Yoga Nidra is a powerful technique in which you learn to relax consciously. For the deepest relaxation, you remain aware and alert, in a state of dynamic sleep. This can be a challenge, but even if you do fall asleep, you still benefit. You will be guided through a systematic series of physical, mental and emotional relaxation during the hour practice. You may appear to be asleep, but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. Yoga Nidra can help us to develop better memory, increase knowledge and creativity and to transform our nature. It's a lovely practice!

“Yoga Nidra is a time-honored, re-educational process that teaches you how to blend profound relaxation with innate wisdom into every moment of your waking life. The practice of Yoga Nidra leads to sweeping changes within your mind and body, as well as in all of your interpersonal relationships. It’s a fundamental resource for transforming your physical health as well as reshaping your personal, interpersonal, and professional relationships.”
-- Richard Miller, Ph.D.

Please feel free to bring your own blanket and pillow(s) (an eye pillow too) - whatever you need to be very comfortable for an hour of complete relaxation and deep rest.

Here's something that a Yoga Nidra student wrote:
Yoga Nidra enables me to relax completely. Intricately watching each part of my body energizes me and takes me into deep meditation. It refreshes me for the whole day. I feel more alert and aware. Yoga Nidra is awesome.

For the 1.5 hour Yoga & Yoga NIdra practice at Body Business, we first practice 30 minutes of gentle Hatha yoga followed by 1 hour of Yoga Nidra, deep relaxation. Cost is $20 for Body Business members, $25 for non-members.

For the 1 hour Yoga Nidra practice at Lakewood Community Center, the entire hour is Yoga Nidra. Cost is $10. You have the option of attending a 1-hour gentle yoga practice prior to Yoga Nidra, cost is $10. For example, if you wanted to practice Yoga and Yoga Nidra, you could attend yoga from 1:15-2:15pm, have a short break, and Yoga Nidra from 2:30-3:30pm.
